The Seacsn Academic Exchange Programme

The SEACSN academic exchange programme was set up as a means of working towards and achieving two of SEACSN’s main objectives. These are:

- to promote research into peace and conflict resolution within Southeast Asia,
- to promote co-operation and collaboration amongst researchers.

Specifically, the programme is designed to give participating researchers the opportunity to conduct their research and field studies, for a period of not longer than one month, within another country in Southeast Asia.

The exchange programme is open to all researchers who are from countries within Southeast Asia. Each participant will receive a maximum of one grant from the programme. The SEACSN actively encourages young researchers such as postgraduate students to apply and participate in the programme. The application procedure is quite simple. Any individual who believes they would qualify for the programme should apply to either the Regional Coordinator, Dr Kamarulzaman Askander in Malaysia, or, they should apply to the National Coordinator for their specific country. All addresses, contact phone numbers and email addresses are listed on page 3 of this Bulletin.

Prospective applicants should include the following information:

- A short outline of the proposed research including: purpose, expected outcome, provisional itinerary.
- The name and letter of acceptance from the proposed host institution. (Assistance and advice about this may be gained from the National Coordinators.)
- Length of stay at proposed host institution.

If applicants are successful, they will be expected to write up their research as an academic paper to be published by the SEACSN. Also, a formal report detailing the outcome of their research must be submitted to the Regional Coordinator one month after the completion of the programme.

All applications should be received by the Regional Coordinator by the end of February or July each year.
