The SEACSN Advanced Program in Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding

OVERVIEW
This training workshop is designed to follow from the basic program on conflict management. It intends to develop practical ability in conflict resolution and peacebuilding, especially in social and political conflicts. The program will explore strategies for designing conflict resolution and peacebuilding processes and key skills that are required to make these processes effective. Examples and case studies will be drawn from the region, highlighting challenges and lessons learnt from past processes. Participants will also be given the opportunity to test out the processes on their own conflict cases. Lastly, the program intends to start a networking process for the participants and provide a base for exchanges of ideas and support for conflict resolution and peacebuilding activities amongst them.

SCHOLARSHIP
There are a limited number of support grants for participants from developing countries. Please indicate in the application form if you need financial support to attend this training workshop, and submit a 2 page CV, as well as a detailed budget proposal. The short listed grant recipient will be notified by 15 October 2005.

TRAINING PACKAGE FEE:
USD$800/participant
  • Each registered participant is entitled to five days conflict resolution and peacebuilding training.
  • All participants will receive a specially designed workshop kit, workshop material, and stationery.
  • 7-day 6-night accommodation (inclusive of daily ABF), conference package (daily lunch, 2 tea breaks per day), and transfer from Bangkok airport to workshop venue are included in the package.
This package DOES NOT include:
  • Travel expenses (international and domestic travel cost, visa, airport taxes, insurance and etc.).
  • Individual per diems.
  • Logistic expenses (shopping, private dinner, extension of stay, mini bar, laundry, phone call and fax, room services and etc.).
OBJECTIVES
  1. To increase capacity in conflict resolution and peace building.
  2. To promote cooperation, collaboration and networking among peace scholars and activitists, particularly in the Southeast Asian region.
  3. To promote the practice of peaceful conflict resolution and sustainable peacebuidling.
TARGET GROUP
Individuals working in the conflict management practice and training areas, including those from government agencies, non-government organisations, private companies, research and educational institutions, as well as regional based international funded project offices.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
  • This workshop is design for 30 participants on first come first serve basis. Both Southeast Asian and international participants are welcome.
  • This training workshop will be conducted in English.
  • Submit the attached application form as soon as possible, but not later than 30 SEPTEMBER 2005
  • Each participant is responsible for his or her own financial expenses.
  • The workshop organiser reserved the final decision making authority in processing the participant's application.
